A style for each head : classic bobs, bangs, the layered look, asymmetric cuts, glamorous curls and sassy hairdos, stylists offer a broad overview of trends this season. Hair care brands are on the move with strategies to develop daily routines and specialized product lines aimed at maintaining and treating all types of hair problems. It is, indeed, the best way to boost a market that is still struggling to take off. New hair product lines include at least one conditioner and are now investing in development of either masks or other non-rinse hair treatment products in order to vitalize sales. This new segment may be small yet looks quite promising, with a turnover (€ 37.9 million) up 5.9% in February 2010, according to IRI. |
Garnier has kicked off to a great start by moving to the top position for shampoos sales. Its success can be attributed to the Ultra Doux line, which has been enhanced by a range of cocoa butter and coconut oil based products, as well as growth of the famous Fructis line. The brand continues the renovation of its pillars. After having revamped the Nutri Repair line, it’s now the turn of the Color Resist line, hair care range enriched with grape seed oil and acai berries. All major brands in hair care are presenting new products. Procter has launched, under the Pantene line, a platform called Nature Fusion, to meet customers’ demand on organic. For Unilever, Timotei is back with new signature, packs and formulas that relay concept of natural extracts coming from all corners of the world (acai, macadamia nuts or rice oils). "All hair care brands and lines conveying messages of organic or natural concepts are experiencing strong growth," explains Amelia Copin, Brand Leader at Unilever Hair & Skin. Dove brand supports its range Divine Curls. Le Petit Marseillais dry hair line of products has been renovated with new packs and new formulas integrating Shea milk and honey.
